What MPM Does

One of the major strengths of MPM is the reuse of existing buildings, in particular schools, into care housing. The Grand Manor in downtown Edmonton was formerly King’s College. Balwin Villa in northeast Edmonton was formerly North Edmonton School, and Gladstone in Yorkton was formerly Sacred Heart School. We feel the reuse of schools is good environmental stewardship, sustainable and contributes to the economic sustainability of the community.

A major challenge in the development of housing for people suffering with dementia is how to curtail wandering. In conjunction with our designers and contractors, we have developed an anti-wandering system involving low frequency transmitters to lock doors when residents come within 1.5 meters of any door.
